In the swimming pool... what's there?

Have you ever gone swimming, especially in a public pool, and then came back with red eyes, ear infections, or skin inflammation, even though the water looked clear?

According to information from the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, there are sources of dirt, contaminants, and germs in swimming pools. If these are not in appropriate proportions, they can affect the health of users.

Various chemicals in the water can be divided into 2 groups:

Chemicals that act as disinfectants:

  • Chlorine, both in concentrated granular form (50% and 90% concentration) or liquid chlorine (10-15% concentrated chlorine).
  • Salt Chlorinators (salt systems) that produce chlorine from concentrated salt, which is safer for users' skin than using chlorine, and the Ionization system, which uses high-quality nanotechnology to help disinfect swimming pools. This system is safe and does not affect users' health.

Chemicals that control water balance:

  • pH (acidity-alkalinity)
  • Alkalinity
  • Hardness
  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
  • Cyanuric acid

These substances control the function of disinfectants. If the water balance is inappropriate, even a large amount of chlorine added may not kill germs, and it can also make the pool smell bad and cause irritation to users.

An appropriate water balance also helps maintain the pool's structure, preventing corrosion, especially in concrete and tiled pools. Additionally, it prevents dry skin and hair.

Therefore, water treatment or swimming pool maintenance must involve both disinfectants and water balance control agents. Adding these chemicals in appropriate proportions will make the swimming pool clear, clean, and safe for users.
